My April began with an outdoor family shoot at Thorp Perrow, located just outside Bedale in North Yorkshire.
Within a few minutes of the shoot beginning, we hit photography gold as the boys embarked on a running race down a pathway lined with daffodils. With the boys poised and ready to race, I captured them in their starting line-up. Within a blink of an eye, we had a man down as one of the boys lay face down in the mud as his brothers pounded the track towards me and the camera. With the grown-ups trying to hide their smiles (and disguise the now muddy knees), we held a rematch to crown the fastest runner!
Despite the April showers, the boys were in high spirits as we explored the expansive gardens sneaking out inspired shots. We discovered gnarled trees which provided the perfect climbing frame for the boys, an adventure playground which is hidden in a woodland clearing and even a stone house which the boys convinced me belonged to a camera shy witch!
Thorp Perrow Arboretum was chosen for this shoot as it holds dear memories of when the boys were younger. With so many places to discover it had us entertained for a good few hours and as if that wasn't enough there was even the promise of ice-cream before the trip home!
